MOS2 after almost two months of operation – first experiences and frequently asked questions

At the end of April 2026, the Case Management Module (MOS2) was launched, constituting the next stage in the digitalization of proceedings concerning the legalization of foreigners' stay. Applications for temporary residence, permanent residence, long-term EU resident residence, and CUKR residence cards, among others, can be submitted through the system.

After almost two months of system operation, we can already identify the first user experiences and the most frequently occurring practical problems.

What are the assumptions of the MOS2 system?

MOS2 enables electronic submission of applications and communication with the authorities conducting proceedings. The system aims to simplify procedures, reduce the number of office visits, and gradually transition case management to an electronic environment.

The most important advantages include:

  • the ability to submit applications online,

  • access to the case without the need for a personal visit,

  • limiting the number of visits to the provincial office,

  • the ability to submit an application yourself.

The Office for Foreigners encourages users to use the instructional materials and question and answer sections available on its website.

What problems do users encounter most often?

The first weeks of MOS2's operation show that most questions concern the practical operation of the system.

The most frequently reported problems concern:

  • creating an account,

  • signing applications with a Trusted Profile,

  • completing documents,

  • completing forms correctly,

  • technical problems.

Foreigners themselves also point out that navigating the new system takes time, and getting answers to emerging questions is not always easy.

What do the first weeks of MOS2's operation show?

After almost two months of the system's operation, we can conclude that the chosen direction of change is the right one. The digitalization of residence legalization proceedings was inevitable, but initial experience shows that both foreigners and employers need time to become familiar with the new procedures.

It is also becoming increasingly clear that electronic case management will gradually cover subsequent proceedings related to the legalization of stay.

Expert recommendation

The law firm's observations show that most of the questions from clients no longer concern the possibility of submitting an application, but rather practical issues related to operating the system and the correct preparation of documentation.

It's worth remembering that digitalization hasn't changed the requirements for obtaining residence permits—the main change has been the method of submitting applications and communicating with authorities. Correct document preparation and the correct selection of the basis for residence remain crucial.

Before beginning the procedure, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the Office for Foreigners' instructional materials and carefully prepare your documentation. This will help you avoid mistakes that could prolong the process.

The first weeks of MOS2's operation show one thing – electronic handling of foreigners' affairs is becoming a standard that both foreigners and entrepreneurs will encounter more and more often.
